Boriana Mihailovska is a Bulgarian artist working in the field of figurative painting. She has a classical education in painting from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, but experimentation plays an important role in her creative process—both in her approach to form and in her choice of materials.

The human head is a central element in her works, stripped of detail and simplified almost to the extreme. This is not a search for physical resemblance, but rather a look beyond the external characteristics of the individual—an affirmation of human value and dignity despite an imperfect nature. These abstract images often evolve into compositions that convey ideas of interaction and communication, as well as feelings of distance and loneliness.

Her primary expressive medium is collage, where the tearing of paper is both a playful and natural process of discovery, as well as an unexpected result that requires control and thoughtful interpretation.

Born in Dobrich, Bulgaria 1975, Boriana Mihailovska completed her secondary education at the Dimitar Dobrovich School of Fine Arts, specializing in textiles. She graduated from the National Academy of Arts with a master's degree in painting, studying in the studio of Svetlin Rusev. After participating in numerous group exhibitions, she held her first solo exhibition in 2006, titled “The Oasis Childhood,” at Triadis Gallery, Sofia. Since 2013, she has been presenting her original artworks online on the Etsy platform, along with high-quality art prints (reproductions). In the following years, she built an impressive global audience, and her works became part of the collections of hotel chains such as Four Seasons, Hilton, Shilla Stay, many boutique hotels, and private homes. She has also worked on artistic collaborations with artists and brands such as John Legend, Sarah Sherman Samuel, Low Classic and many more.
